Advocacy Day at the State Capitol in Hartford

On Wednesday, May 10, on behalf of all seven Connecticut Jewish Federations, JFACT organized a Legislative Advocacy Day at the State Capitol in Hartford. Due to restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, this was the first opportunity for us to host an Advocacy Day in more than three years. The purpose of the Advocacy Day was to thank our legislators for their support of issues important to the Jewish community in the past and to alert them to three specific bills for which we request their support during the current legislative session.

We were very appreciative that Comptroller of the State of Connecticut Scott Scanlon, dozens of legislators and Jewish community members from all parts of the State participated in the Advocacy Day. I was particularly pleased that there was such a great turnout from our Federation’s service area, including Senator Stephen Harding and Representatives Martin Foncello, Cindy Harrison, Maria Horn and Cara Pavalock-D’Amato for taking time from their very busy schedules to meet with us.
