Dignity Grows Packing Party at the Jewish Federation of Western CT

On March 5, 2024, Cathy Conti, Program Manager, of the Jewish Federation of Western CT along with Rabbi Rhonda Nebel, Congregation B’nai Israel of Danbury, Susan Rubin, Adath Israel of Newtown, and Cantor Lilah Sugarman, UJC-United Jewish Center of Danbury had their first Dignity Grows Packing Party.

Rabbi Nebel of Congregation B’nai Israel hosted the event with members of each congregation participating in packing 150 bags.  Each bag was packed with the same seven items of personal hygiene products.

Cantor Sugarman of UJC Danbury lead the women in Chair Yoga along with the prayer, “Sanctuary”.

The Dignity Grows Organization, created by Jessica Zachs of the Greater Hartford Jewish Federation in 2019 first engaged volunteers with hands on approach to address Period Poverty.

The group of women were enthusiastic to learn more about the organization and the charities that were recipients of the Dignity Grows Bags.
