Opportunities, Challenges and Revelations: : A Journey from Waterbury, CT to a Life in Israel
During this event, Alan Stein, a former president of the Jewish Federation, will share some of his opportunities, challenges and revelations during his journey from Waterbury, Connecticut to a life in Israel.
Arriving in Waterbury as young marrieds, Marsha and Alan didn’t belong to a synagogue and had no connection to the organized Jewish community. That changed when the Jewish Federation invited them into its Young Leadership program and the young rabbi of Beth El Synagogue reached out to them. They became involved members of the Jewish community and strongly connected to Israel, visiting seven times before going on a volunteer program, Hadassah’s Winter in Netanya, in 2010 and deciding Netanya would be a good alternative to New England winters. A year later, they owned a home in Netanya and three years after that they made aliyah.
Alan will talk about that journey, their experiences, turning points and some of the amazing people they’ve met along the way.
