Jewish Federation of Western CT's Holocaust Memorial Tree Planting Ceremony

On Tuesday morning, the Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut held a Holocaust Memorial Tree Dedication service. The Memorial Tree, planted in the front yard leading to the entrance of the Federation building, is dedicated to those of blessed memory who perished in the Shoah.Members of both the Jewish and non-Jewish communities attended the ceremony, including Southbury First Selectman Jeff Manville.

Federation President Pauline Zimmerman and Federation CEO Gary Jones spoke at the dedication to explain the motivation for planting the Memorial Tree. Rabbi Eric Polokoff of B’nai Israel Southbury led the gathering in prayers and provided context for the service. We hope the Memorial Tree will serve for many years as a living reminder of the 6,000,000 Jewish souls taken from us as result of hate and inhumanity.

The Jewish Federation would like to thank Brooks Landscaping for its support in selecting and planting the Memorial Tree.
